CEDAW Ordinance for City of San Jose was passed unanimously by the City Council members on Dec 19, 2017.

Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women known as CEDAW became Law! Today our Task Force members testified and spoke to the SJ Council members and the Council members unanimously passed the CEDAW Ordinance on this historic day, Dec 19, 2017! What an accomplishment! Today is a day that highlights a new beginning for women and girls in this area and beyond and moves us collectively towards a more just, balanced and fair society where no one is discriminated against based on their gender.
Thank you Mayor Sam Liccardo, Vice Mayor Magdalena Carrasco and all City Council members for voting to move forward with a CEDAW Ordinance on Oct 17 and for unanimously approving our CEDAW Ordinance on this day.

Congratulations!The Silicon Valley CEDAW Task Force led by Voices of Women for Change have been working diligently to pass the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, known as Women’s Bill of Rights. Today marks a historic day for women as this Ordinance provides a legal blue print for Gender Equality in areas of Employment, Education and Housing and provides protection against all forms of violence against women including Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
