Narges Mohammadi Urges UNGA: Act Now to Stop Executions, Free Political Prisoners, and End Gender Apartheid
From behind bars, Narges Mohammadi calls on state representatives at the UNGA to take swift action to stop executions, free all political and ideological prisoners, end the repression of women, and halt the crackdown on independent civil institutions in Iran.

Honorable Secretary-General of the United Nations,
Esteemed Members of the United Nations General Assembly,
Two years ago, the “Women, Life, Freedom” movement swept across Iran, demanding democracy and equality under its powerful slogan.
The cost of this collective uprising and solidarity, like past movements, has been brutal suppression, which continues to this day.
The world has witnessed the killing, execution, imprisonment, and violent repression of women in streets, detention centers, and prisons. Today, we are deeply alarmed by death sentences issued against female activists Pakhshan Azizi and Sharifeh Mohammadi.
Honorable Representatives,
Representatives of this government will be among you at the 79th UN General Assembly session. I urge you to make human rights a prerequisite for any negotiations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, not merely in words but in action, to achieve democracy and peace in the Middle East and Iran.
I call on you to take urgent & effective action on:
Halt the widespread and brutal executions of defenseless prisoners,
Free all political and ideological prisoners,
End the systematic and targeted repression of Iranian women and criminalize gender apartheid,
Stop the repression of independent civil institutions.

دو سال از جنبش «زن، زندگی، آزادی» می‌گذرد. جنبشی که سراسر ایران را فرا گرفته است. این جنبش دموکراتیک، مطالباتش را شعار زن، زندگی و آزادی کرده و دموکراسی و برابری را فریاد می‌زند.
تاوان این برخاستنِ جمعی و همبستگیِ مردم، چون خیزشها و جنبش‌های اجتماعی پیشین، سرکوب بی‌رحمانه مردم بود که همچنان ادامه دارد.
جهان شاهد کشتار، اعدام، زندان و سرکوب خشونت‌بار و بی‌رحمانه زنان در خیابان‌ها، بازداشتگاه‌ها و زندان‌هاست. این روزها نگران و شاهد صدور حکم اعدام برای زنان فعال (پخشان عزیزی و شریفه محمدی) هستیم.

نمایندگان این حکومت در میان شما در نشست مجمع عمومی سازمان ملل متحد خواهند بود. از شما تقاضا دارم برای تحقق دموکراسی و صلح در خاورمیانه و در ایران به طور جدی و فعال و نه فقط در کلام و کنایه، حقوق بشر را پیش‌شرط هر نوع مذاکره‌ای در هر سطحی قرار دهید و برای
۱- توقف اعدام‌های گسترده و وحشیانه زندانیان بی‌پناه
۲- آزادی همه زندانیان سیاسی و عقیدتی
۳- توقف سرکوب سیستماتیک و هدفمند زنان ایران و جرم‌انگاری آپارتاید جنسیتی
۴- توقف سرکوب نهادهای مدنی مستقل
اقدام عاجل و قاطع نمایید.
